SAUFLEX Herbal Bowl for Sauna

The SAUFLEX Herbal Bowl for Sauna is a stylish and functional accessory for natural herbal aromatization and gentle humidification of the sauna air. The bowl is suspended above the sauna heater and uses the heat from the heater to gradually warm water with herbs, leaves, needles or parts of a sauna whisk.

As the water heats up, the plant material releases its natural aroma, while the warm moisture gradually spreads throughout the sauna room. Depending on the plants selected, different natural aromatic compositions can be created: fresh birch, rich oak, cooling eucalyptus, mint or coniferous aromas.

Product Features

  • Material: durable stainless steel, resistant to high temperatures and moisture.
  • Bowl diameter: 200 mm.
  • Bowl depth: approx. 90 mm.
  • Total capacity to the rim: approx. 1.751.8 l.
  • Recommended maximum amount of water: 1.41.5 l.
  • For herbal aromatization, approx. 1 l of water + herbs, leaves or parts of a sauna whisk is recommended.
  • Wall mounting pin length: 250 mm.
  • The three-chain suspension provides a stable horizontal position of the bowl.
  • The wall mounting allows the bowl to be positioned directly above the sauna heater.
  • No electricity, pump, hoses or connection to a water supply system is required.
  • The heating intensity can be adjusted by changing the distance between the bowl and the sauna heater.
  • Simple construction, use and cleaning.

Advantages

  • Natural herbal aromatization: instead of artificial fragrances, real sauna whisks, herbs, leaves and needles can be used.
  • Gentle humidification: heated water gradually evaporates and adds moisture to the hot sauna air.
  • Long-lasting effect: the aroma develops gradually as the water and plant material heat up, rather than disappearing immediately as when water is poured onto sauna stones.
  • Different aromas with one bowl: the ingredients can be changed before each sauna session.
  • Use of a sauna whisk: leaves and small twigs can be cut and placed directly into the water.
  • Adjustable heating: the closer the bowl is positioned to the sauna heater, the more intensively the water heats up and evaporates.
  • No electricity required: the sauna heater itself serves as the heat source.
  • Aesthetics: the suspended metal bowl becomes an independent element of the sauna interior.
  • Convenient to use: after the procedure, simply remove the plant material, drain the water and rinse the bowl.

What Can Be Used?

Various natural plants and herbal blends are suitable for the SAUFLEX Herbal Bowl.

A birch sauna whisk creates the traditional fresh, woody and leafy aroma of a classic sauna.

An oak sauna whisk provides a deeper, richer and slightly astringent woody aroma.

Eucalyptus creates a bright, fresh aroma with characteristic essential-oil notes.

Mint and lemon balm give the sauna air a fresh herbal aroma.

Pine and spruce needles create a distinctive coniferous forest atmosphere.

You can use either a single plant or create your own compositions from several types of plant material.

How the Herbal Bowl Works

The operating principle is based on the natural heating of water using the heat of the sauna.

The bowl is positioned above the sauna heater. The water gradually heats up while simultaneously warming the plants placed in it. This allows the plant material to infuse and release its volatile aromatic compounds.

Along with the gradually evaporating moisture, the natural aroma spreads throughout the sauna room.

At a water temperature of around 6070 °C, aromatization takes place gently and gradually.

At approximately 8095 °C, evaporation becomes significantly more intense, making the plant aroma more noticeable.

A short-term temperature of around 100 °C is possible, but continuous vigorous boiling of the water is not required for comfortable use of the herbal bowl.

Herbal Aromatization in the Sauna: Choose Your Natural Aroma

Fresh or dried leaves, parts of a sauna whisk, needles and various herbs can be used in the SAUFLEX Herbal Bowl. Add approximately 1 litre of water to the bowl, add the selected plant material and position the bowl above the sauna heater. As the water heats up, the natural volatile aromatic compounds of the plants gradually spread throughout the sauna.

How to Achieve the Best Result

  • Gentle mode 6070 °Cslow evaporation and a more delicate aroma.
  • Optimal range 8095 °Cmore intensive evaporation and good release of the plants natural aromas.
  • Around 100 °Cthe aroma and steam become more intense, but continuous vigorous boiling should be avoided: the water is consumed much faster and the character of some plant aromas may change.

For the first use, start with approximately 1 litre of water and a small amount of plant material. Adjust the intensity by changing the amount of plants and the height of the bowl above the sauna heater.

SAUFLEX Tip: You do not necessarily need to purchase special herbal blends. After using a sauna whisk, some fresh leaves and small twigs can be placed in the herbal bowl to continue releasing their natural aroma throughout the sauna session.

Experiment with different plants and combinations to create your own natural aromatic compositions for every sauna session.

Application

  • Position the bowl above the sauna heater so that it is securely held by the suspension and does not come into direct contact with the hot sauna stones.
  • Pour approximately 1 litre of clean water into the bowl.
  • Add leaves, herbs, needles or small cut pieces of a sauna whisk.
  • Switch on the sauna heater and allow the water to heat gradually.
  • As the water heats up, the natural aroma will spread throughout the sauna together with the evaporating moisture.
  • If evaporation is too weak, the bowl can be positioned closer to the heat source. If the water boils too intensely, increase the distance from the sauna heater.
  • Make sure that there is always sufficient water in the heated bowl.
  • After the procedure, allow the bowl to cool, remove the plant material, drain the remaining liquid and rinse the bowl.

Result

  • A pleasant SPA atmosphere with natural plant aromas is created in the sauna.
  • The air receives additional gentle humidification.
  • The aroma spreads gradually and remains noticeable throughout the sauna session.
  • Natural plants can be used instead of ready-made fragrance compositions.
  • Each sauna session can be personalised by changing the sauna whisk, herbs or their combinations.
  • An ordinary sauna whisk gains an additional usenot only for traditional sauna rituals, but also for natural aromatization of the sauna room.
